Andrzej Jakimowski - I don´t need to compromise for commercial reasons
Polish director Andrzej Jakimowski (1963) is an interesting man. So far he directed 5 feature films but all were different and all had deep meaning. Obviously some of them didn´t go down well with Polish public, since it kind of put the mirror in front of Polish society, into which they didn´t wanna look. He was the guest of Letní filmová škola in Uherské Hradiště so after his film Imagine, we asked him for interview.
Clint Eastwood - I have gained every success despite others suggesting me not to do it
Clint Eastwood (1930) is an actor, director, producer, musician and former Carmel mayor who made it from zero to iconic figure of American film industry, who still makes films despite being 88. In 70´s he was the best paid and the richest actor in the world and his name was box office magnet. He is life non-smoker, doesn´t take any drugs and is not alcohol friendly, he avoids traditional Hollywood parties and does care about his health and food. Since he is self- made actor and director and he knows how to work behind camera and how to compose music for his films he is an ideal representative for deep profile for our website. Because he doesn´t like interviews and very seldom provides them we have to make do with two biographies we have read.
Josh Wiggins - If I am proud of what I have done, I am happy
We often meet young people or would-be- actors who have very distorted views at real values and act if they won 3 Oscars already. While being at Zlín festival we met young American actor Josh Wiggins who introduced two of his films, one of them was called The Batchelors. At press conference he replied with real modesty and submission and we were impressed by young man having such thoughtful head on his shoulders. We asked him for interview and weren´t disappointed by his replies. We hope he has long and prolific career ahead of him.
Mike Leigh: I want to make only films I want to make
English director Mike Leigh (1943) has pretty unique style of work with actors and making his films. Often his films start without script and develop through improvisation of actors. Nomination for Academy Award, winning Palm´d Or in Cannes or BAFTA award shows that his films are critically acclaimed and find their audience.
Katinka Farago-Bergman knew his job and nobody could beat him
Katinka Farago (1936) was the guest of Letní filmová škola 2018. She worked with Ingmar Bergman as his script girl and production manager for three decades so one can´t get much closer to great director than talking to her. She drew a great picture of her collaboration with the master.
